1. Zoey's pick: Zinfandel
McHenry Hohnen Hazel's Vineyard Zinfandel 2021
Margaret River, Western Australia
Zoey says: "I rarely travel outside the US and Italy, so this bottle is a real adventure: Margaret River in Western Australia. McHenry Hohnen farms its vineyards biodynamically. Expect ripe berries, spice and a touch of smoky oak."
Pairs with: Barbecued ribs, grilled sausages, or sharp cheddar

2. Maria's pick: Malbec
Gran Tomero Single Vineyard Malbec 2022
Uco Valley, Mendoza, Argentina
Maria says: "Argentina is home, and Mendoza is where I shine. This bottle comes from a single vineyard, Finca Tomero, high up in the Uco Valley, where sunny days and cool nights give the grapes concentration and freshness. Bodega Vistalba ages it for 12 months in oak. Expect blackberry, rich red fruit, peppercorn and warm spice."
Pairs with: Grilled steak, roast lamb, or empanadas

3. Chike's pick: Chenin Blanc
Corymbia Chenin Blanc 2024
Swan Valley, Western Australia
Chike says: "South Africa is home, but this Swan Valley bottle is worth the trip. Swan Valley is Western Australia's oldest wine region, and the Mann family farms these vines organically. Expect crisp citrus, a hint of smokiness and a dry, textured finish."
Pairs with: Grilled prawns, roast chicken, or a soft cheese board

How to taste the box
You don't need to open all three at once. But if you have friends over, pour them in this order: white first, then the reds from lighter to bolder.

Taste them side by side
vs
Zinfandel vs Malbec
Tilt both glasses over something white. Which one has a magenta edge at the rim?
vs
Zinfandel vs Malbec
Both are bold reds. Which one tastes jammier, and which one has softer tannins?
