1. Catherine's pick: Cabernet Sauvignon
Majella Cabernet Sauvignon 2020
Coonawarra, South Australia
Catherine says: "They don't call me the #1 frequent flyer for nothing. This time I landed in Coonawarra, South Australia, a region famous for its red earth. Majella is a small, family-owned winery there. Expect mint, blackcurrant and mulberry, with a long finish."
Pairs with: Roast lamb, aged cheddar, or grilled portobello mushrooms

2. Mary's pick: Merlot
Château Marjosse Cuvée Charmille Rouge 2018
Bordeaux, France
Mary says: "I love singing with the band, but this one is my solo. It is 100% Merlot, from my hometown Bordeaux. Château Marjosse belongs to Pierre Lurton, the legendary winemaker behind Château Cheval Blanc. Expect blackberry, blueberry and plum, with a touch of spice."
Pairs with: Roast lamb, beef stew, or a mushroom tart

3. Camille's pick: Red Bordeaux
Château Le Jurat Saint-Émilion Grand Cru 2016
Saint-Émilion, Bordeaux, France
Camille says: "My daughters and I have a band called Red Bodo, and this bottle is all 3 of us. It is a Red Bordeaux with 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Mary takes the lead and I support from behind the scenes. It comes from Saint-Émilion in Bordeaux, where the vines are around 50 years old. Expect ripe dark fruit, blackberry and violet, with a touch of cedar."
Pairs with: Roast beef, charcuterie, or hard cheeses

4. Stephan's pick: Sauvignon Blanc
Ata Rangi Te Wā Sauvignon Blanc 2024
Martinborough, New Zealand
Stephan says: "This one is just me, Sauvignon Blanc on its own. New Zealand is one of my favorite places, and the cooler weather suits me. Ata Rangi means 'dawn sky' in Māori, and it is a small, family-owned winery. Expect Granny Smith apple, fresh fig and a touch of lime peel, with a long, mouth-watering finish."
Pairs with: Grilled fish, goat cheese, or a herb-topped salad

La Lacroix Martillac Blanc 2019
Pessac-Léognan, Bordeaux, France
Sebastien says: "Stephan and I have a band too. We call it White Bodo, and this bottle is our duet. It is a White Bordeaux, a blend of 58% Sauvignon Blanc and 42% Sémillon, from Château Latour-Martillac, a 'Grand Cru' estate back home in Bordeaux. Expect gooseberry, white peach and fresh citrus."
Pairs with: Grilled fish, herb-crusted chicken, or a light goat cheese salad

How to taste the box
You don't need to open all five at once. But if you have friends over, pour them in this order: whites first, then reds, from lightest to boldest.

Taste them side by side
vs
Sauvignon Blanc vs White Bordeaux
One is Sauvignon Blanc on its own. The other has Sémillon blended in. Which one feels rounder?
vs
Merlot vs Cabernet Sauvignon
