1. Gabrielle's pick: Grenache blend
Lavau Gigondas Red 2019
Gigondas, Rhône Valley, France
Gabrielle says: "I'm originally from Spain, but these days I spend more time in France, and Gigondas is one of my favorite spots. I brought my friend Sylvie along: this blend is 50% Grenache, 40% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre. Expect red plums, blackberry and dried flowers, with a little spice. The Lavau family settled in the Rhône Valley in 1964."
Pairs with: Braised lamb shoulder, grilled steak, or a hard sheep's cheese

2. Sylvie's pick: Syrah
Swinney Frankland River Syrah 2019
Frankland River, Western Australia
Sylvie says: "I spend lots of time in Australia for work, where my grape usually goes by Shiraz. This bottle keeps my French name, Syrah, a nod to its elegant, peppery style. It comes from Frankland River in Western Australia, where a brother-and-sister team makes the wine. Expect blackberry, blueberry and cracked pepper, with ground spices and a long finish."
Pairs with: Grilled sausages, BBQ ribs, or a peppery steak

3. Teresa's pick: Tempranillo
The Hedonist Tempranillo (Organic) 2021
McLaren Vale, South Australia
Teresa says: "I rarely travel outside Spain and Portugal, so this bottle is a special trip to McLaren Vale in Australia. It's organic and biodynamic, with dark cherry, anise and bay leaf, firm tannins and bright acidity. Walter Clappis has been making wine in McLaren Vale for 40 years."
Pairs with: Grilled lamb chops, chorizo, or a simple tomato pasta
